A Typical Sunday

I decided I'd like to write down a typical Sunday here in the home of a Bishop.
We got to sleep in, this is actually not so normal, but oh so luxurious to sleep until 8:15 is LATE and I soaked in every minute!
Read the scriptures on my iPhone Mosiah 22-23. Love the scriptures and ALL the lessons that I learn from them, especially about obedience and faith.
Take a shower and since Isaiah was still asleep (also not normal at all) it wasn't interrupted by him opening the curtain a million times, or stopping him from getting in the toilet water. :)
Figure out what the kids want for breakfast, secretly wishing they'd just fend for themselves even if it meant chocolate cake for breakfast (just ask Bill Cosby). It does have wheat, dairy and protein after all.
Make four different breakfasts, eat my egg whites and turkey bacon (wishing I could have a buttery roll with jam).
Work on Church stuff/slideshow/Emi's party on the computer.
Realize that it's 11:15 and begin to get ready.
Begin getting everyone dressed.
Get myself dressed.
Begin making lunch for everyone. Nuggets, peanut butter, Weight Watchers, yogurt.
Pack the "church bag" with food.
Wait for the call from the husband person to say if we are having four extra people for dinner. Don't get a call.
Proceed to put dinner in crockpot with enough for two extra people, just in case...
Start yelling for everyone to finish getting ready. Shoes, tie, belt, HAIR!
Get books/paper and tricks to keep all those kids quiet during one hour of church.

Finally get everyone in the car.
Get to church and get our seats.
Juggle the no-napped baby in my arms while I dispense said contents of the bag.
Have a toddler trying to lean on my arm to go to sleep.
Be grateful that my uncle Bob just happened to come to church today and was so helpful with Josh and the other kids, since we had the nieces and nephews staying with Grami.
Listen to the speakers, while also filling all quick requests for snacks and rotate the tricks amongst the kids.
Remind the kids to only take one piece (and the first piece they touch) of the Sacrament bread.
Almost have the Sacrament water tray dumped by the baby who decided to get mad about only be allotted one very little cup of water. :)
Dig water cup out of bag for said baby.
Find five more water bottles for other children to avoid the procession of trips to the fountain.
Say a silent prayer of gratitude when the baby fell asleep in my arms, the toddler went to sit with Grami (sorry about that) and especially when meeting ended a couple minutes early.

Go put bag of tricks in car and get stroller.
Make sure Noah, Carina and Grami are okay in nursery.
Make sure Emi and Josh went to class.
Take stroller and baby to Sunday school class.
Eat almonds to stay awake and avoid talking to friends instead of listening to SS lesson.
Leave SS a couple minutes early to give baby to Grami in nursery.
Try to make it to YW, but don't.
Attend YW lesson and feel guilty about leaving Grami to watch all the kids.
Get the kids.
Ask the executive clerk on my way out the door if he knows if anyone is coming to my house for dinner or a discussion. He informs me that he heard that the Bishop, MY HUSBAND, tell them to come at 6pm. Just in time for dinner. Nice.
Receive a call from Bishop saying that he is on his way home for dinner with the missionaries AND the couple. It was 5:40.
Hang up. on. husband. Not Bishop. and finish dinner.
Add some turkey to the chicken. Burn the asparagus because Noah woke up from the couch with his arm asleep, screaming.
Prayer of thanks again that the baby is taking a nap so at least I only have one child to contend with.
Stop a squabble between Emi and Elijah (he likes to tease).
Throw rolls in oven.
Throw soufflés in oven.
Greet the Bishop and the missionaries as they BOTH walk through the door at about 6:15!
Tell husband that he can prepare the table (add a table and chairs) while I finish up.
Sit down and eat dinner.
Clean up a bit and sit down for dessert.
Listen to and participate in the missionary lesson.
Say another prayer of thanksgiving that I know what they are teaching is true and how lucky I feel to be part of witnessing a mom learning about the nature of our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. So grateful that I was raised to know and love my Savior and my Father in Heaven's kindness and love for me.
Say good bye and clean up.
Get everyone in bed and write this entry because one day I will forget that amidst the insanity of a day like today I am constantly witnessing the hand of the Lord in my life and in the lives of others, and for that I am eternally thankful!
